Dornier Wine Estate – Stellenbosch – South Africa

May 24, 2012 in Wine by Admin

Winery: Dornier’s loft-style winery is a new attraction in the Cape Winelands. With its curved roof and the use of face brick and reflecting materials, the building blends creatively into the dramatic scenery of Stellenbosch Mountain. The tasting room is a lookout post to the surrounding forest, vineyards, fynbos and mountains. The style of the winery is a visual translation of our wines — elegant, clear yet complex and distinctly unique.

2007 Dornier Pinotage Stellenbosch

May 23, 2012 in Wine by Admin

Each year the vineyard block leaves us amazed at the consistent quality and class of the wine it produces. Both parents of this cultivar (Pinot noir and Cinsaut) are each now becoming ever present. The wine shows the elegance and poise of the Pinot noir with its freshness and mild blackberry characteristics. From the Cinsaut it borrows the masculine flavours and upfront fruit attributes to provide for a truly complex wine with a fine, well-crafted tannin structure.

www.africa-24.com Annandale Winery – Situated in the scenic Helderberg valley of Stellenbosch, the Annandale Winery, owned and lovingly managed by Hempies Du Toit, has a rich history that stretches back to the founding years of South Africa. Here, grapes have been grown for 315 years, and after the second world war, part of Annandale became a shelter for abandoned and abused horses, a legacy which today lends a proud identity to this enigmatic winery. Reflective of its rich heritage, the Annandale cellar which pre dates the 1700s, survives to this day, untouched by time; the proud protector of Annandale wines for generation to come.
